I'm just starting to work on the Chaminade Concertino and I was wondering if there is a word or something to help count the sextuplets and the septuplets? For example like.. for a triplet you could use just trip-el-let or blue-bear-ry or for a quintuplet hip-po-pot-o-mus or something like that but i can't think of anything with that many syllables ..

Thanks in advance

I just use for example.

2/4 time.

1-o-let-an-o-let..2-o-let-an-o-let.

It's easy to say fast.

for eight counts

1-de-an-da-an-de-an-da.

I hope it helped a little.

Good luck

I'm with Patrick. I used to just count numbers in my head, but once you play enough sextuplets and septuplets, you won't even need to think about it anymore. That's what you should aim for.

remember as well that the audience wants to hear shapes made up of groups of notes, they should not be aware of the group numbers..so whatever system for these groups works for you, be sure to play shapes not numbers...
