Hi, I play the clairnet, but have also been playing the flute off and on for about 5 years, and usually I play music from my clairnet books, so while I'm pretty good at the lower notes, I cant play that high, I can play higher on the clairnet
soo any tips and excersises to get better at this??

Practice!

For the high notes I like to practice long tones. I usually start on B (right above the staff) and go up chromatically until I don't know any higher. Hold each note about 4 counts.

Also make sure your note tensing up too much, and make sure your not rolling in (my problems.. I've gotten SO much better over the summer with my high notes )

A book that has really helped me is Top Register Studies by Thomas J. Filas. I think it helped because it gets you in that high note mindset. When I struggled with high notes, my teacher made me play out of that book and nothing else for about two weeks. It was tough and sounded pretty bad at first. Once I got over that first hurdle it became much easier. I have continued to incorporate an exercise or two into my practices to keep in shape.
