I hardly play pic at all. I don't own one. But I am in the market for a decent pic since I know I should be able to play pic when requested. Anywho, do you guys(hopefully pic artists) have any tips for a few problems I encounter when playing pic? My 3 main problems are:

1. After playing pic for a very short period, I can't play certain passages with out my lips buzzing! Ugh!

2.After switching back to flute, I can't play the flute as well. The buzzing continues for awhile. It takes me a couple minutes to get a lovely sound in my lower & upper registers.

3.I can't play the upper registers gracefully. :-( Maybe this one just takes practice? Sigh...

At the moment, I'm playing a nice Brannen. About a year ago, I was playing a pretty decent Yamaha.

Thanks in advanced for helpful (non patronizing/ condescending) replies. LOL!

I think it just takes practice with the upper registers (i can only just get them in flute and i have practised to get them)

Switching between them just taks practice too, after playing pic i'd give your lips a little stretch and have a sip of water before going back to flute.

As for the buzzing i don't know what to do.

well, the last post is correct, you have to practice..don't try forcing notes out of a picc though, you need to maintain a relaxed, albeit very focused airstream...don't practice for too long at any one time...

as will flute, do scales, technique exercises, tone studies, etudes, etc...
