I am playing the piccolo in my band and on the loud section of the ballad I have to play up to a High G on the Piccolo. It is SUPER LOUD! In several vids I completely cover up the rest of the flute line and almost the whole band and I cant seem to control this volume without sacraficing intonation. Is there anyway to tone it down?

My piccolo is a silver plated Armstrong, conical bore.

But rest assured, you are not alone! There are so many flutists who just don't take the time to learn piccolo properly.

well, It just takes practice. I can play verry quietly on the flute in the upper regista. Now my band teacher wants me to learn picc on top of flute, oboe, and violin. Don't feel bad, it took me 3 years to be able to control my volume so precisely.
