I've been lurking for a while but I decided to make an account as of today

I've been playing flute for 5 years, and up until yesterday I had been playing on a Yamaha 221. Lovely... but not really lovely enough (clearly ha). I had been begging my parents for pretty much a year for a new flute, but yesterday I finally went shopping with my teacher and my parents!

We got a pretty good deal on a Yamaha 684 and a Miyazawa headjoint (not sure which one at this point) ... and I'm INSANELY happy with it!!!

So yes, there is my introduction... OH, and, I'm Alex, I'm 17 (in grade 12) and I live in Manitoba, Canada...

Hello!

I wasn't expecting it at all and I'm 150% thankful and also feeling kind of guilty that they spent that kind of money on me! I pretty much tackle hugged both my parents and had a whole like jaw-drop moment going on when they actually decided I could get it.

I remember my first pro flute, an all silver Lamberson with wood case and gold plated lip plate, I had that flute with me everywhere...

Oh yes.. what wonderful memories! I didn't get my first (I guess you could call it a pro flute?) Yamaha 581 until I was out of school and married. It never left my side either. It makes you so grateful after playing on not so great of flutes for so long. That flute had so much sentimental value that I cried when I had to part with it. Congrats on your new flute!

I dream of a high end Muramatsu.

What about a 60K$ Heckel basson for you?

That would certainly be nice, lol
I was considering a moosmann222a, they look so darn beautiful!
I also heard that fox is much more free blowing than the heckels, so perhaps a fox 601 as well! I can only wish right now! I wish my instrument wasn't so sarn expensive! LMAO

sarn= darn :)

No deal for the moment, I' m afraid.

But do you praise the EC so high compared to that Muramatsu's HJ?
Maybe my choice for a dream was not as good as I thought.

i.e, I can only compare with my teacher's Muramatsu - and the sound she gets from it. Yes but that's she, I know. But putting one to dream...

Tenorsaxist, I was joking, of course. I do not know much about bassoons, but I have a few friends who are bassonists in big orchestras. What I know is that Heckels are a dream for many pros, but of course and as in flutes, the tastes and opinions differ.

Actual proffesional instruments normally are more difficult to play than those designed for students. I believe they call this "resistance" in the instrumentist jargon.
