My yamaha is just soo out of tune.
moreso than others. its a ypc-61(its an older model)
my friends 32 plays okish in tune and the schools 62 is ok also.
Basically yamahas scale sucks.

So i need a new(used) better piccolo.

i know your going to ask what my playing level is.
For solo and ensemble im working on the Lieberman piccolo concerto(movement 3) and in my youth orchestra We're working on the shostakovich symphony no.10.

im also looking for a new flute headjoint because im playing a yamaha 361(student flute), so the cheaper the better.

Have you had the picc checked over by a tech who knows about them? The amount the keys open is critical for the tuning.

I completely understand your frustration with your Yamaha. I owned a Yamaha 62 for a few years and it was a nightmare. Like I have stated many times before on this forum, the tunning on them is whacked! Every professional that I have spoken with that does play the piccolo has agreed also.

You can have a look at Flute World, Carolyn Nusbaum Music Co, Flute Center of NY and usedflutes.com. Of course there is always eBay, but that would be hard to try it out and they usually need work. What is your price range? The Burkart Global piccolo can be had for $1800 and it is the best in the price range that I have ever played. If you are planing on selling your 62 you can get a chunk of money to put down on another piccolo.

Thank you kara.
yes this piccolo is quite frustrating. 1800 would be at the top of my budget because im also looking to upgrade my yamaha flutes headjoint (at least that thing as a good scale).
i think i might trial out some from flute world.

Try the Pearl Piccolo if you get a chance. That will free up more cash for your flute headjoint if you like how it plays.

Wow, maybe I got lucky with my YPC-62 but I just love it! I'm glad I'm not having those particular problems.
