Hi, I recently came across a silver colored (Silver Plated?) Bundy piccolo, that has been kicking around our house for the least 20 years, and think it was used when my folks bought it for my sister... It needs new pads and general cleaning / lube, but is in otherwise good shape. I'd like to donate it to our neighborhood High school. Any idea what something like this is worth?

But in all seriousness, yeah, about $50. My High School might pay about $30 because they're cheap like that.

Also, be aware that the going rate to repad a piccolo is around $135-$200. Best price I found with a Google search was $135 and most shops charged $150+.

It may not be worth much in cash value, but in economic times like these, the band program suffers, and the piccolo will be priceless to the school! Instead of paying the price for a repad, a lot of times a nice private music instructor will do the job if you pay for lessons from them. I have had many a time that I needed my bassoon,picc, flute,my sister's flute, etc fixed, and my music teacher did a job that was going to cost me $200 dollars for free.

While that is nice of your private instructor to do, most private teachers are not qualified repair techs so be weary. I would only have a trust repair tech do repairs.

Good point, although in a situation like this, it would be better to take the chance than to pay
$200 for a picc that'll end up $50 after being fixed and donated. If it gets messed up, that's too bad, but it would not be worth it to get the picc proffesionally fixed. However, if it was an instrument that's value would override the repair costs, I competely agree with you Kara.
