Does anyone have any opinions on antique Haynes flutes? When I say antique, I mean Haynes flutes from the 1920's. I've seen a few recently on eBay that are quite inexpensive and that, even adding in the cost of a complete overhaul, would seem still affordable. Admittedly these are closed-hole flutes, but if they are still built with the same quality as other Haynes instruments, would one be worth purchasing?

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

HI David

I have played a few that are amazing once they are overhauled, Joe B, a regular forum member here had one in his former shop he had worked on that was very good, and I know a well know freelancer here in NYC that uses one, so go for it..

The Closed hole commercial models will serve you very well. Their scale is much better than the other more common pro model. If you want a nice flute at a good price, those old closed hole commercial model haynes' are quite nice.

also, the scale, in my opinion, on the c foot older haynes is better than the bfoot haynes
