So i don't know a lot about my flute or the technical terms for the flute but my 3rd key in the left hand is slightly higher than the key that goes down to the left of it. (sorry, i can't explain it!) hmm, the 2nd key is where it should be and 3rd key is a little bit higher. It doesn't affect my sound and it isn't difficult to get the key down. I don't know what made it spring up, or if it can be fixed in a matter of seconds. If in fact this is a big fix, i bought my flute at a store so i can take it back there to get it fixed. I would like to know if this is a minor fix because if it is, my band teacher could probably fix it. Though he is a trumpet player. Hope this makes sense, and would like some feedback on what i should do.

Yes, it makes sense.
This is just a matter of a missing cork. It's located inside the mechanism, where there is a metal brace that touches the tube, so the key is kept open in position. There is a small cork that has the function of avoiding the noise of metal to metal contact, as well as keeping the moviment smooth.
Just a minor repair, and easy one.

Just to add that usually when the cork is missing, the key is kept a little higher than normal, just the case you pointed here...

Lift your finger from the key very quickly. If the key makes a click, it is most likely a missing cork (some flutes have felt instead of cork). If it does not click, it's possible that the key has been slightly bent and needs to be adjusted. Either way, it's an easy fix and should not cost a lot.
