Yeah, I sometimes of trouble with the piece as well. Yes, you do need to learn the song inside and outfirst. If you are still having trouble learn to double tongue (I need to), that could help. Also, pay attention when you are trying to play fast. Have you ever found that when you are just fingering the notes you go faster? You may have trouble coordinating your fingering with your breath/tongueing. Try to practice doing your scales quickly for practice. Hope that helps.

playing fast is basically just moving your fingers in patterns really fast... and, of course, you have to tongue to, but for me and other I know, that isn`t too hard. You just play the fast passage over and over again, gradually increasing speed as you go. And eventually, you`ll be able to play at the right speed!

Just practice until you know the notes well enough, and start at a slow tempo until you get fast enough. Playing fast is a mix between tongueing and correct fingering, both come only with practice, and dont get discouraged!
