I can just picture a dribble, a squirt, or fine mist of saliva coming from a hole in the side of the lip while playing high notes.

Are you also sick of being the person you are as you are? If so, there are more constructive, realistic and beneficial means of acquiring self esteem.

If you get the side of your lip pierced, the left side, it is possible to continue playing. I played the same day I got it done, with no problems at all.
