As mentioned above, I chose to just switch to plateau flutes (secondhand, and went for ease...offset G, C foot, split E). I bought a very nice flute (Muramatsu EX III) and a 'beater' for backup and outdoor work (Yamaha 211 with upgrade head) and sold my two open hole flutes (B foot, inline G, etc...) for pretty close to breakeven. It's been about two years now, and I haven't regretted it for a moment. Just one day I was struggling after losing a plug (I'm a doubler and always left the inline G plug in) and in one piece another guy in the section said "hey, just try my old Haynes...I don't have any flute part in this number"...I was permanently hooked.
