My 8 year-old son has been practicing the recorder diligently over the last school year. Dwindling down to the last few school days his teacher asked to meet with me for a parent-teacher meeting yesterday. Much to my horror he, Mr. Peterson, claimed that Evan's recorder needed an overhaul or P.C. work. Apologizing for my ignorance first-hand I do not know what they are talking about since the recorder sounds fine to me.

Well if your son plays a wooden recorder, or is a bit clumsy with his instrument and lets it drop regularly, it may need some work. It's not a big deal, and it may help it sound better

A, this is a FLUTE forum
B, He could just mean that you need to get it proffesionaly cleaned due to all the gunk that can come from a persons mouth and get stuck in the little crevices of a recorder that are not cleaned properly in the usual cleaning of the instrument, but don't try to do it yourself because it you damage just one of the little crevices in it you could make it worse.

If it's actually banged up and needs "repairing", which can happen with kids - trust me(heh)... The typical solution is to just replace it with a new one.

I have one of these. Sounds great. No need to spend tons of money on a repair here, since most recorders cost less than the minimum repair person's fee.
