I'm going to the galway world record performance! I hope we don't get trampled! Do you guys understand the costs at all? I read in a brochure you need to buy membership which was around $85, then it was about $125 for 1 day to look at the exhibits but someone else i know thought that was for exhibitors only and would actually cost more like $300 just to SEE the exhibits for 1 day.

Trying out a bunch of flutes was wonderful experience. The expensive ones included. Hearing world class flute playing is priceless of you want to really know the flute. I stayed in the Convention hotel (18th floor) and estimated that the taxes alone on the room and parking were about $2.50...per hour.
Most interesting> IN the running.....Leonard Lopatin's square keys flutes are very interesting to me because they don't sacrifice in speed with the bigger keys and square tone holes concept....but rest assuredpadding won't be an issue as long as Lenny is around..I'd think.
Most expensive flute that I tried? I'm really not sure. Since I'm not buying, that's not on the top of my head. I was trying the one Powell and someone asked the price. It was $50K but ...(Here's the kicker)it comes with the two foot joints.
I think that the most artistically beautiful flute is the John Lunn creation.
http://www.lunnflutes.com/index.html
that is apparently $60K...It plays nice.
of course there are the Nagaharas that one should consider or the wood varieties and the antique Lot flutes at the Flute Center of NY. http://www.flutes4sale.com/lot_7690.html
these flutes are much easier to hold compared to the gold honkers because they weigh in like feathers ...
Of course for the band kids, these flutes aren't your standard lightsabres for marching band playing.
As the saying goes, "IF you have to ask the price, you really can't afford it."
overload? Times Square is right there... If one ISN'T overloaded by that concept...then it's fine. Otherwise for the rest of us, it's like riding a roller coaster. So, It's good to be home but I do miss the excitement. It was wonderful.
