I went to a salvation army and found two flutes and a coronet. I bought a flute for $45 almost new!! Looks and plays geat I am going to learn it as a second instrument. The flute is an armstrong. Any tips for a beginner?

I spoke to my band instructor and he can give me lessons. I have played the tuba for three years so the flute would be a second instrument.

You really should get a proper teacher, someone with more flute knowledge then a band director. That is only assuming that your band director did not major in flute or it is his/her main instrument.
