I have a bamboo flute that was a gift from a friend visiting the Middle East, and I don't know how to finger the thing at all. I don't have pictures of it handy but I'll try to take some if it would be helpful...
The main problem for me is that there is a tone hole placed quite far to the left, almost midway between the embouchure hole and the rest of the tone holes. I've seen other folk flutes with a similar configuration before, but what hand position are you supposed to use with this?
When I cover this tone hole with the index finger of the left hand, as seems the only option, it's a really big stretch to reach the other tone holes that seem like they should also be left-hand responsibility.
Does this description make sense? If not I'll try to provide some pictures. I'm guessing I'm not the first to run into this question though?
Thanks!
