It's not boring. I wouldn't mind being Grade 4 for flute, rather than Grade 8 in an instrument I didn't love

I wanted to learn violin when I was younger..but the thought of having calluses on all the fingers of one hand didn't appeal to me. I like my hands soft and gentle lol.

Same with the guitar. Using a plectrum doesn't sound the same.

One reason why I think it took me so long to realise I like the flute ... is because there isn't a lot of solo flute music out there. The piano is kind of dominant as an instrument of choice in school, so I learnt piano for years. No embouchure skill; no great changes in the timbre and quality of the note pitch apart from two pedals. Maybe the flute is a more intense instrument ... you don't get 45 minute long flute solos like piano sonatas. I like the short focussed energy of the flute a lot.
