I do not lie when I mentioned other vendors mentioning other flutists having the same problem as I. References: Diane from Flute Work, Liz from JL, Smith, (works for Altus now) Claud from Flute Center of NY and David from Kesslers music. I can play just fine with or without a Split E. Thanks <Added>Just tried 3rd octave A-E-A as suggested. No problems without a split E or donut. Years of practice help on that though :) <Added>I could record this when I have time if you would like also. Not sure how to use the webcam on my new Apple as I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure I could figure it out.

Surprisingly, no body ever mentioned the major problem of Split-E: try fast forte 3rd octave A-E-A. |

Same with or without split E. Not a problem with or without split E if you take your pinky off. It's a similar harmonic so embouchure control is needed much more if you keep your RH pinky down. High A-E-A is not a problem with that pinky up.
Split E affects nothing else except to correctly vent the High E to be more acoustically consistent. It should not impair anything else in any manner, shape, or form...

Added: That should be pinky up for the E, Down on the A. And it is easier and more intune with split E than without
