I have a 50th anniversary Gemeinhardt. Serial number: 50925
Can't find anything on it... I even tried searching the head joint (J*star*R). I was just curious about my flute..

<Added>

Typo: Serial number: 50295 not 50925

That is a great idea! I didn't think of that. How do I do that on here? I'm really new to this site :/

This is exactly what it says.

"Gemeinhardt
50th Anniversary 1948-1998
ELKHART IN USA
50295"

And it says solid silver on all three joints and the whole j8r thing on the head joint.

Here's one for sale online:

This is a professional Gemeinhardt 50th Anniversary in-line model. This is sure to be a collectors item!! A limited number were built to celebrate the year of their 50th Anniversary in 1998. It has a solid silver body and foot, solid silver thin wall headjoint with a solid rose gold riser and an engraved 9K solid gold lip plate, 12K gold springs, pointed pad cups, treated unbleached professional pads, low B foot with gizmo key(high C facilitator), and Gemeinhardt 50th Anniversary engraved on the barrel. . You would pay approximately $3,500.00 retail for this flute!

I saw that ad and it is a bit of an exaggeration. Classing a Geminhardt in a professional flute category is one thing. This does not mean that the original poster has this exact flute that was listed in that ad. Gemeinhardt made MANY 50th anniversary models. Like many ads listed on the net, they are going to boast it up and make is sound like one of a kind when it simply is not. The key cups were designed a bit differently and they added gold springs to them. They don't play any differently than the regular 3SB and again, are quit common.

It depends on if your flute has solid silver key work, Y or pointed key arms, silver or gold riser/lip plate to determine a fair price. Without knowing the full specs, it is hard to say. The regular equivalent to a 3SB usually sell used on ebay for around $500 for auction as far as I have seen.

Agreed, I have never thought of any Gemeinhardt flutes as "Professional". When I think of "professional" I think of Powell, Muramatsu, Brannen, Burkart, Nagahara, Williams and others. I'm not so sure about Wm. S Haynes anymore either as they are owned by the Chinese now. However, I've been told that their soldered tonehole flutes are still made in Boston.

They Haynes handmade models are still being made in Boston. It is the Haynes Amadeus models that are being made in China last I knew. I think that word "professional" is used to freely when it comes to flutes. It is crazy how many people think just because it has open holes or B foot or solid silver that it is a professional model. You see this all too often on eBay.
