And why is it your "dream flute"?

I don't agree with the site that it is a professional model. I sold a Jupiter DiMedici model a while back and added pictures of it on my page if you would like to take a look. It also had the pretty engraving on the keys but I added a gemstone into the crown and gold plating. It was a really pretty flute and played nicely. There are many better flutes yet that are true professional models that you would probably like even more. If you visit the Haynes site and Nagahara I believe there are some really pretty engraved flutes on their too. I would love to have a gold flute with all engraved keys myself

I would suggest that you contact Carolyn Nussbaum or Flute World (no I don't work for either of them) to give you expert advice for you to really find your dream flute. I bought my 14K Williams headjoint from Carolyn and she is really knowledgeable about flutes. She currently services my Haynes and does a wonderful job too !!!!

I've had two bad experiences and my girlfriend also had a bad experience with WWBW. An alto flute that I purchased arrived with a bent key, and my camping flute (Gemeinhardt 3KSB silver body, plated keys) arrived with a broken case. My girlfriend's Gemmy KGM flute arrived with leaky pads ... she subsequently sent it back requesting a new flute. Not bashing WWBW, just relaying our experiences. I have bought other non-instruments from WWBW including a $290 tuner/metronome at the time but will recommend buying flutes from them.

but will NOT recommend buying flutes from them.

Well, part of it being my dream flute is that it isn't very expensive, otherwise my dreams of having it would be pointless.

You can dream of having a very expensive flute. No harm in that. That is why they call it a dream. Have you tried this dream flute of yours? You might hate the way it plays for you. I never dreamed of having a student flute I guess. But, I tend to go for the expensive things that I could never afford as I am sure many do.

I also agree about WWBW. They don't specialize in flutes and you will be lucky enough to get a flute that plays properly. There prices may be maybe $50 less than that of a place like Flute World or JL Smith, but you are paying that $50 for professional one on one service and a properly set up flute.

It's fine to have a dream, gives one something to look forwards to. Sometimes those dreams take a while to fulfill, sometimes they don't.

I have been playing flute for 40+ years and am old enough to be someone's grandma here. Now granted I got my Haynes while I was in high school because I thought I was going to be a music major (and had a scholarship to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music), but I am finally getting my dream flute (a 14K Brannen, with Split-E, C# Trill, D# Roller) in September ... it took only 37 years of waiting

Just a question for a friend...
My friend who is looking for a step-up liked the features of the Capital Edition 7000, but it's really hard to find information on it. Anyone that owns one, what are the pros and cons of the flute?

* My dream flute currently is my Amadeus AF900- and it will be until I outgrow it. *

My dream flute is my Amadeus as well - it's an AF700. I'm not fully convinced the actual flute lives up to the dream, which I think is kind of common in dreams. It's awful hard to separate the dream flute from the real flute when you get to play one for the first time. What am I really saying? My experience is that one should try to exercise patience, and play a new flute as much as you can before you buy it. Even at that, if a new flute is significantly advanced from the old one, it may take a very extended trial to learn it's limitations.

Just got back from a Masterclass taught by Patricia Harper and there were a variety of flutes in attendance: 2 Powells, 2 Brannens, a Haynes, a Muramatsu, a Sankyo, and a Matik. Every flutist had a different tone too.
