Hi,

I am very upset with the way that I was treated on this forum. With a couple of exceptions, all of the replies that I received were rude and very false. I have read a lot of the other posts and have thought that the responses were very honest and true. But for my post, it was nothing but ridiculing me for my post. I don't think that I said anything that made me look or sound stupid, so why was it that everyone (with a few exceptions) made me feel stupid. I am very appalled by these actions. I will never use this forum again. And I will dissuade as many of my peers and colleagues from using this forum as well.

@ Patrick, I was just looking at your website, and was listening to some of your sound clips...and it really sounds like you are playing on an instrument you bought at Wal-mart that has a crappy scale, a shotty mechanism and an embouchure hole that has been punched out by a machine in China.

So thank you all (with a few exceptions) for being asses

Bye all,
spencerflute

<Added>

@ Patrick, it must be your favorite brand of flute ;)

We like to joke around on this forum. If you don't have any sense of humor, that is too bad for you. Talking about people being rude? Your last post was beyond rude!

Besides, what is wrong or rude about liking a Simba? For Suz and I it really brings out our lower registers while rocking out to the Lion King tunes.

I thought Simba was a pet cat :-)

Seriously, back in the 1970s, there wern't as many brands as there are now. For student flutes, there was Bundy, Armstrong, King, and Artley. I don't remember if Gemeinhardt was around then? For professional flutes, there was Powell, Haynes, and they just started importing Muramatsu into the US.
In 1972, a Muramatsu was $850 while a Haynes was $1195, so I went with the later. Powell had a 3 year waiting list.

Wait, wasn't this thread supposed to be one word responses only?

Whoops, I broke that rule too.

Spencerflute, your post history indicates that you're a student. That's cool, I am one too. However, I thought it was a good idea to be nice to successful professionals (like Patrick) because they can help you become successful in this very difficult field. You came across as an ass, and if you keep up that attitude around other people you try and learn from, you won't get anywhere.
