If you are looking at Powell and Haynes (my backup flute), you should consider Brannen-Cooper too (my primary flute). They are fabulous handmade flutes.

Yes, those Brannens are AWESOME. My teacher has one and it produces such a gorgeous sound. I'm already saving for one to take through college.

I recently purchased a Pearl 765 CODA with the Forza headjoint and I couldn't be any happier with it. I tried it out in comparison to a Yamaha 481, 584 and 674, as well as an Amadeus 900 and 700, a Lyric (can't remember the model), and a few Gemeinhardt models. I've never liked Yamaha or Gemeinhardt flutes though, so I figured I wouldn't leave the store with one of those. The Lyric and Amadeus flutes were nice as well, but just didn't stack up to the Pearl with my playing. I absolutely love it.

my flute teacher is order a few amadeus, pearl, and something else from the flute pro shop in DC for me to look at. Mostly close to my price range but man I hoping for one of them to be great! You guys are very helpful too putting brands out there I've never heard of
