my favourite orchestral thing so far is Mars from the Planets. As for flute solo stuff, the Chaminade concertino is ranked up there with In Ireland by Harty (i`m slowly crawling my way through this one but it`s beautiful) and the Pastoral Fanatisie by Taffanel.

As I was reading these posts I was thinking Phantom of the Opera and read Kristen loves it too! I love those songs! I only have the basic book with the main songs melodies.
My other favorite peices include Danse De La Chevre, Mozarts Concerto in G Major, Telemann`s Suite in A minor and Sonata in C minor, Bach`s sonata in A minor. I like Quantz peices. I never played Syrinx but I heard a recording and liked it a lot. I heard one song Galway played on a cd called Albinoni Adagio and it`s AWESOME! It`s slow then get`s louder as the peice goes on and higher notes.
I also LOVE etutude books, some of may favorites include progressive studies by cavally books 1-3 I LOVE.
I like to take movie soundtracks/tv/video games/singer cds I really like and play melodies from them. I`m working on: The fifth element, Dark Angel (the tv show some of the instrumental stuff), Buffy the vampire slayer, Echo the Dolphin video game going through the time machine. It`s crazy and sometimes It takes a while to pick a decent note but I like it. I want to try Nine Inch Nail songs next (the nice softer music like the fragile album).

I`ll make you hungry! We went to Chinatown in British Columbia. We ate rice and noodle dishes at an authentic Chinese resturant; and we also had a great meal at this Indian cusine buffet. That was worth making the trip, I`ll tell you!

My favorite flute piece, that I`ve played in the past 8 years has to be "The Swiss Shepherd" by Morlacci. It`s hard but still very nice to listen too. If anyone knows any harder pieces then that please tell me.
