I would like to get a case/holder for my yamaha flute that is as light and causes as little bulk as possible. I have searched extensively but so far have not been at able to find anything at all! Would anybody be able to offer any suggestions?

Usually "French style" cases are pretty streamlined because the interior of those touch the flute only where needed to secure and cushion it. Cavallaro does make great case covers; get one to put the French style case in because said cases don't have handles.

Thanks for your responses guys! So Piko you recommended as a lightweight solution a case cover with shoulder strap - do you mean that I could use one without an actual case? Would I not risk damage to the flute that way? I don't plan on putting any music or accessories inside. Essentially I am planning an around the world trip and really need to keep my packing down to 7 kilos and the carry on flight size restrictions so I am trying to find out what would be the best solution/alternative to the bulky Yamaha case I have to go inside my larger backpack. Thanks Michael for mentioning the french style cases, I will look into those..
