The Dolce and Elegante were professional models at one time, but then they were moved out of Japan and their prices also dropped to compensate.
So you can get a flute made from the same mold, just in a different country and it could sound just as good as the Japanese Dolce... but quality varies and some clearly do not as good as the one next to it.
I found it a hard choice between a Pearl Dolce and a Miyazawa. I had one crappy Dolce and one really amazing Dolce. There was a $2400 difference between them and I was torn. My teacher seemed to lean towards the Dolce too until I divulged the origin and case closed. I got the Miya
The Miya was the superior flute really, but that Pearl had such an amazing color (sound). It sang.
...but it was made in Taiwan. Doh! So not for me.
