I just bought a used Gemeinhardt 33SB from Sam Ash in King of Prussia, PA. It's really nice and I'm happy with it. I'm just confused about the headjoint.

The headjoint has a gold plated crown, and also has a gold (probably plated, but I'm not sure) lip plate. On the back where it tells you the model, it says J*? It also says "professional" above the Gemeinhardt logo, and "custom" below it. I've never seen that before, and I can't find anything about it online? I'm just curious, so if anyone knows something about it please let me know (:

Thank you!

I have an old 1998 price list from Gemeinhardt.
33SB has a solid silver HJ and body, silver plated keys, 12K gold springs, "J" thinwall headjoint. Gold Plated Embouchure plate available for no extra charge. Gold plating on the crown was an extra $49. MSRP in 1998 was $3000, but was heavily discounted at the time.

Gemeinhardt made various headjoints, G, K, S, M, and J.
J offers the least resistance, provides extremel quick response in the low register while retaining a free-blowing high register.
