I am looking to name my flute. I don't want to give a boy or girl name. I don't want to give a mountain or river name either. I want a real flute name. Does anyone know a story from the time when people used to give names, a flute name?

People don't ordinarily name their flutes. But some people name their businesses that sell flutes:

Fluteragious
Flutastic
Flutacious
Flutestar
Sideblown

There are some names such as Pan(After the ancient greek god), Syrinx(After Pan's flute) or Kokopelli (ancient Native American flutist figure) that might work for you. I'd try to find something that you relate to in your flute experience and go with that. ..something that you would have a story behind.

If I were to name a flute, and didn't want an obvious reference, I'd find some relevant and poetic sounding words, and find the translations for them in ancient languages like Latin or Anglo Saxon. Where you look depends on your own aesthetics. You might find something that clicks.
