I have a nickel plated yamaha flute and I like the the dark texture with the bright white keys. However the nickel plated flute is very worn and I was told it`s not worth relaquering it and it can`t have a chemical bath (Can the silver plated ones get a chemcial bath?) I now have a silver plated open-holed gemeinhardt and it really bugs me because it`s so bright and it`s easier to tell when it`s dirty. I heard about the titanium flutes and since I like the dark texture of the nickel plated flutes, but hate the fact that more advanced flutes aren`t made with nickel, I was wondering if that would be the way to go?

I think your idea is awesome, i would really like to know if you got your flute painted? and if so could they do a blue and silver one?

I respect that idea, but if i had a flute i would never paint it!!! That is the stupidist thing i say that anyone would ever do to an instrument!!! Plus, people will think that your playing a TOY not a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT!!! Take my idea and don`t even dare touch your flute with any colors. Get it stained or something but trust me, by what my band teacher said to me about painted flutes, trust me and don`t get yours painted!!!

You shouldn`t paint your flute because it will jsut look bad. The colored flutes you see are powder coated (similar to the way the color automotive wheels). The process is expensive and not worth it.

UR flute is a musical instrument, respect it, and who ever said it was right, it will look like u are playing a toy. stick with the original, the old reliable, okay?? JEEBUS. and dont EVER do it urself, u will wind up paying to fix it more than u should. and remember something will ALWAYS go wrong.

Yeah, of course this is not my decision, but I would not do it. Of course my flute was about $3000 and I would never dream of hurting it. You`d never guess how I got such a classy flute. I just got my dad to take me to the music store and waltzed in and told the manager there exactly what I wanted and she pulled it out for me, and with my dad being ignorant to this kind of stuff just signed the paper and I had me a new flute! WOO HOO! Of course I got a few hundred dollars knocked off the original price because I had bought a flute there before and we had credits, so yea know... I`m going to buy the ultimate flute to go to college with, though!

About the nickel and silver flutes... If you jsut keep your flute clean, like get a cleaning kit at a music store and clean your flute after every time you play it, your silver flute will not look dirty. And it will tarnish if you don`t wipe the oil from your fingers off of it, or it will get this nasty black residue on it. The one thing that I cannot stand is when people do not take the best care of their instuments. It`s a sign of immaturity and if you can`t very well take care of your flute, how are you going to play it very well? Keep your silver flute, because Gamienhardts (however it`s spelled) are very good flutes. I have a Yamaha myself, but just clean your dang flute and it won`t look dirty. That`s my point. And make sure you get the little brush thing and clean between your keys and get alcohol every once in a while and a q-tip and clean the mouth piece and oil your keys every 6 months or so, I mean I have to take care of my friends` flutes sometimes because I`m jsut a little perfectionist and I can`t stand it if They just like, take their flute apart and put it away without so much as a wipe down or cleaning the spit out of the mouthpiece... it`s disgusting. I`m not saying you do this, I just got going and it`s hard for me to stop, so I`m gonna go before I cause any damage!!

i have a piccolo that looks like that xept it didnt cost 10,000 dollars. its not mine im borrowing it from school so i really dont know if it was that expensive, but i highly doubt it
