Hello to all fellow fluties!
I currently have a Gemeinhardt 4PNH piccolo. It is similar to the 4PMH. I think it's just the older version. I was thinking about getting a new one with a plastic head joint like the materiel of my current one's body. I wondered if I bought the same brand of piccolo (Gemeinhardt) but just bought the head joint (maybe the 4W) if it would fit into my current ones body. So in other words, just buy the new plastic head joint and put it into my body. Does anyone know if that would work?
Thank you! :D

It should work. But be aware that plastic/synthetic headjoints are notorious for poor quality control versus the higher end handmade ones. That is, while it might have the same potential to sound as good, you also might have to try half a dozen to find that gem.

My advice would be to see if their metal headjoints fit in the plastic body you have, and if you are willing to spend a little extra money, get a metal headjoint as well as a plastic one. Many piccolos come in combo packs with both headjoints anyway (I believe pearl does that). That's so you can have different headjoints for different playing environments. The metal one will be louder, but the tone quality will be easier to control.
