If the lip plate is gold then the riser is not always gold, It should state gold riser in the description. If not then its probably silver. Btw Thank you for the thumbport idea, I'm going to buy one for both hands if I can.

I dislike when there is no description of the riser, but I think you're right and I'll have to assume it's silver unless otherwise stated.
You're very welcome! I suffered a lot with my tendinitis - had to take a year off of school because of it (music performance degree). Glad to pass on the little things that help! Also, don't be afraid to modify your flute to suit your needs. It's becoming a lot more accepted these days now that musicians injuries are coming into the light.

If it's a pro headjoint it will be just the lip plate and be solid gold. If gold plated, usually the lip, riser and interior of the tube is gold plated. They mask the outer part of the tube and into the plating bath it goes..
