When you say it's playing sharp, are you using a tuner?
If you have issues with the keys opening too high or if they aren't closing properly then you may get a sharper intonation but that isn't necessarily a 'general' issue and if the keys aren't closing then you won't be getting a good tone on your notes.
Another thing is that when the air temperature is warmer then wind instruments will tend to play a bit sharper.
Also, have you checked on your model/brand as there are instruments today that are designed to play above standard US tuning of A=440.
I have a few import flutes and because their intonation is like A=442, I have to pull the head out about twice as far as an A=440 flute.
