How loud is this? Especially in the upper registers, will it deafen me like a typical fife? OR, can you control the pitch independent of volume?

All joking aside, I thinks this looks like a pretty interesting novelty instrument to play around with. However, I do have sensitive ears along with neighbors haha. I know i's not a 'real' fife, so I don't quite know what to expect. is it close to a recorder"
