The start of a new year brings an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation for all that we hope to achieve in our flute playing. New Years Resolutions are made by most of us, but over 90% of us never reach them... Why?? Three main reasons (lack of planning, lack of accountability and a 'self' focus) are why they so often are doomed to fail (see in this article below).

Hey! I’ve been playing for a year now, and one of my goals is to join some band in the community, or maybe the Symphonic Band at school. This is probably not going to happen so fast, but I want to try hard this year. I also want to move on to a better flute, but they’re a bit expensive.

Only just started playing really after fixing the Eb foot on the flute I was given. I'd like to be able to play part of Fauré's Pavane by this time next year. I can play it on recorder and tin whistle but flute is a totally different beast and I'm just starting to get to grips with flute embouchure.

Hi - Do you mind if I join this thread? I am an absolute beginner saxophone player (started 18 days ago), and I use goal-setting a lot in other parts of my life, and find it really powerful.

I love watching buskers on the street attract a crowd, and my goal is to be able to do that.

To be more specific, I want to be able to play 10 popular songs, from memory, without making mistakes.
I'd like to be able to do that by Easter 2019, when the weather starts getting good enough next year to go out and busk.
