Pearl and Yamaha are REALLY good but yamaha is bit pricey... You get the best value with pearl. You should probably try a quantz or a quantz coda...

Which is the best for what? Gemeinhart makes a very sturdy flute, excellent for beginners or younger players, but many people say yamaha is better when players are advancing. A word of warning: DO NOT BUY A JUPITER FLUTE. Jupiter flutes make you sound very good, it`s a bright, flashy, virtuostic sound that is created by the thin wall of the tube. The problem is, many companies refuse to repair jupiters, because they are weaker than other flutes, and are often damaged during the repair, creating a different problem.

If you have more specific questions, or would like to tell us what the flute is for (you, a child, concert band, marching band), or your level (or years you have been playing), it would make giving advice much easier for all of us.

I`ll check back in a bit,
