I don`t own one, but Pearl flutes are a good. There are some on here that will tell you to buy this particular brand or buy that one. I have a Gemeinhardt 3B and a Selmer 220B with a gold engraved lipplate. I prefer my Selmer, it has a better tone ( besides I couldn`t pass up $650 brand new )

I have a Pearl 785 RBEG. Or something like that, I can`t really remember. It is a dream of a flute. I was at the National Flute Assn. convention in DC a couple of summers ago and I tell ya I tried EVERYTHING in my price range (around 5K) and this was by far the best. I didn`t really set out to get the gold plating, but I liked the sound and the response better than the silver ones of the same model. I really like the way the flute feels. Actually, today in a rehearsal I played a colleague`s flute to try it and though she spent about the same amount of money as I did, I didn`t like hers as much as mine, especially the feel. Hers is a Miyazawa.
There are several flutists in my area who play Pearl flutes similar to mine, and everyone seems quite pleased. I think you can`t go wrong.
