I have been playing for about 3 and a half months on flute and surprisingly I started the piccolo about 3 months ago! Yes I had the urge to play the piccolo so i started the flute.

P.S. I`m in 7th grade band

I`ve been playing for 4 years. The piccolo I`ve played for about 2. I love the piccolo... lol

For me:
Flute- 3.5 years
Piccolo- 2 months

I think around five and a half years, which is about my skill level out of ten...started in fourth grade.

Are any of you playing in a symphony of some sort or teaching? I just want to know how many of you make a living playing/teaching the flute.

56 1/2 years!! whoa!! that`s awesome!!! i really hope i can stick with it that long.. whether pursuring a music career or not.. i`ve played flute 6 1/2 years and piccolo about 7 months

I actually play oboe in the local community orchestra, but I do quite a bit of freelance gigging on flute, mostly with a rock/pop band, but some classical and jazz too.

I have a day job in corporate communications, however. I play because I enjoy it and it`s a huge part of my life. Not necessarily because it pays the bills!
