Wow, Gemeinhardt? Thats an okay student model, but if you want something proffesional go with a Jupiter diMedice or a Yamaha. I own a Jupiter diMedici my favorite flute in the world, but my first flute was a Bundy which is also really good, I barely got my Pro Flute in my sophmore year of high school, I tried a few but I fell in love with that one.

5th grade..first flute.....Blessing (yes that`s the brand name)

7th grade...part way through i get my first flute that i own (well, my sis got it off from ebay and my mom paid for it).......Gemeinhardt

April 2001 (7th gd) i got to china and i get a flute and it`s not the greatest...it`s refered as the "frosty" flute according to my friends. i have no idea what it is made out of

9th grade....i go to a music shop and Emerson brings in all their flutes and I test most of them out and even Piccs!

10th grade....Dec 26, my new flute comes in...solid silver flute....711RBSO JUPITER FLUTE and i LOVE IT

I`ve got a Scholastic piccolo thats so old they son`t even have it`s original case anymore I bought it from a MS band teacher. I hate it doubt they even produce them anymore, never buy one they`re horrible sounding. I have a student model Armstrong at actually has pretty good sound. Anyway my friend has an awsome gold lip plated Yamaha or at least I think that`s what it is that I think is one of the better qualities. But I`ll be loyal and say Armstrong.

i would have to say on the professional level, David Williams and Brannen are the top dogs...
lower than that i would say pearl and haynes...
i personally hate gemeinhardt, the headjoint cut is horrible. armstrong is probably the best student brand in my opinion... cheap and sounds decent... its also what you WANT from your flute and your lips. ive heard people make me go "wow" on a gemeinhardt, however i let them try my pearl and they sounded infinately better... =P
