I`ve just picked up a piccolo for the first time (no prior experience with a flute-type instrument). I`m having difficulty with the embochoure...any suggestions, or good piccolo websites?

When I 1st got my picc, I was told to tighten my embochure and concentrate the air more directly into the picc! You need to blow `harder` and it`s hard at 1st, but ........ `if at 1st you don`t succeed : try, try and try again!!` lol!

Learn the flute first. Without doing that you are likely to build up foundation that seriously handicaps your piccolo playing as you attempt to progress.

Do your listeners a favour.... Don`t start on piccolo until you have sufficient flute embouchure control to control both the pitch and the volume through the third octave.

Yeah, sorry, I hadn`t read that you have no previous experioence with flutes ...... i totally agree with meme!

hi my name is kevin and i`m just like you. I started on piccolo and never played the flute befor. But if you blow hard you`ll be abl to play it, it just takes time. But now I play the flute and it`s much easyer to play in band.
