I own & play a Muramatsu hand-made, soldered tone hole flute. It is a little older than their model-naming system, but not ancient. It would be a lot more expensive than a GX to replace.

I service and test a wide range of flutes, both student and professional - hundreds of models - including a few gold ones.

It is all personal preference, but none(including my own flute)has impressed me when I play test them, more than Muramatsu EX & GX, and that includes my own flute. If my current flute were to be run over like my Haynes was in 1967, then I would replace it with a Muramatsu EX or GX.

In 2003 James Galway wrote that he used one of these as his practice flute.

Is that what you wanted to hear?

That all sounds awesome! But what I wanted to hear?I did not want everyone to tell me what I wanted to hear, just what you really think. But all of that sounds great! So what exactly is your job?I am just curious.I am only 14 years old.

Sorry, my question was slightly ambiguous. That was entirely what I think. I never say something just because it is what somebody would like to hear. To do so would undermine one of my greatest treasures - personal integrity :-)

I am a specialist woodwind repair technician and qualified mechanical engineer, playing several instruments, my main one being flute.

I`ve played as a multi-instrumentalist in over 135 `shows`. Not so much now though.

You are a very lucky girl to be getting such a fine flute so early in your playing.
