When you have a dent in your flute (or any instrument for that
matter) does it effect your tone?

Depends on how large they are. Minor ones shouldn`t, but very noticable ones may.

I have several dents in my flute, and the tone hasn`t been affected so that it is noticable.

They would ha ve to be VERY large to have a noticable effect. They are usually very quick to remove, say less than a minute each, almost invisibly, unless they involve distorted tone holes, or a bent body. In such cases a fair bit more work may be needed. <P>However a knock severe enough to cause a large dent could well have jarred keys enough to upset adjustments throught the instrument.

depending on where it is (like someone said) usually if your headjoint gets rammed, it would probably be a good thing if you took it to a shop to get it undented (which isn`t hard to do...)
