hell, there were 160+ flute people at this audition thing. half of whom sucked. so i`m just wondering Why the hell are there so many of us and which ones are actually serious and who`s not. because i`m tired of some people trying to beast me in playing when i`m better. and i`ll say that, because i am. `cause i work hard, `cause i don`t give people crap and `cause i`ve played longer than almost everyone my age (16)...and more serious. so, i dunno, maybe i`m just too competitive but i really play because i love to, i don`t play for anyone else.

sorry, i think this is more of a rant than anything else.

I actually see your point Smurpho. I play Alto Saxophone, flute, guitar and keyboard and it annoys me off when people aren`t serious about it or just use the instrument (eg. guitar) to look cool. I love music and I imagine you do too... so yeah, I`m a serious player.

there are so many flute players because we are not heard very well in band so we have to have many in order to be heard. plus some of us are easily influenced by the games we play or the movies we watch and on some games there is a magical flute and i guess those who are so easily influenced believed that if they could play the flute it would be "magical" too.

i mean that`s just my guess. but i could be very wrong. like always.

I happen to be a flute player and no i actually didn`t GO to the audition because i didn`t see a point. but That`s wasn`t what i was saying. i was just fricken saying that i could have beat any of them but they were giving me crap and i`m just not the type to blow up in someone`s face....i`ll admit, i was having a bad day.

Listen...I almost went through this very same thing. For an honor band I auditioned for, there were over two hundred flute players alone. I was really upset that so many other people were trying out because I thought I wouldent make it, and knew that I could be classified as a `sucky player`. Instead of whinning, I went on to be ranked within the top ten in my state. So, instead of whinning that everyone sucked, I busted myself and now have utmost respect...and never once did I ever rant about how bad others are. I guess i am trying to say that,even though others might not be good, they will either get better or quit, but make yourself the best instead of putting everyone down.

I was just trying to be sympathetic to her situation.

You all should calm down. Stop worrying about others and play your best. Instead of wasting energy on others focus it into practice and playing and you will be much happier.
