does anyone know much about a Spencer M. Eudy flute? i`m looking at a really nice priced one (retail 10,000, hand made, silver, french, soldered tone holes) used for only 2,000 and it`s in awesome condition. i haven`t had a chance to play it since the people at the shop fixed it, but i just want some opinions and stuff. (i`m asking because i can`t find a website...if anyone knows one......)
Thanks

I only found a bio of a guy that plays a Eudy, nothing else. Frankly, I would be cautious if they don`t even have a website.

You really need to be able to test it first. I have played flutes with all these fancy specs that were terrible, so don`t be fooled by what it has on it.

Are you in High School? It is really sick how now a days kids are getting $2000 and up flutes. If you spent more time practicing instead of worrying about what kind of flute you have that has all the bells and whistles on it, then you would be way further ahead.
Give me a break! Soldered tone holes. Hey why not get a gold Powell while your at it. Maybe Mom and Dad can put a second mortgage out on the house. Sick! Sick! Sick!

yes i`m a highschooler and i was just asking a question. and no i`m not a spoiled brat; i`m a serious player who has played for 10 years, plays with the state symphony and am going to play with the BSO. i`m not obsessed with the `bells and whistles` on the flute. i was just saying that it`s a good deal that i`m getting. what`s sick is that people tend to judge before they know who they`re talking to. if you find anything sick about being a dedicated flute player in need of a new flute, then feel free to leave me alone and find some meaning in your life. Have a nice day

Ignore the just-turned-up Lanna, Fluteloops. I have played for 4 years, practice hours a day, and have gotten to the highschool level while still a junior-higher. I have a new flute now and it has helped me go farther than I could`ve on my ancient Gemeinhardt.

Thanks, Fluteloops! I probably wouldn`t be at this level though if it wasn`t for my parents. They`re the ones who made me practice at first. But now I do it on my own.

If you are already playing on a Miyazawa, then what is wrong with that one? You are still only in High School and have plenty of time to look at the fancy flutes with all the gizmos and gadgits.
Save your money on the soldered tone holes. You are paying for the exta work that is put into making them when the rolled tone holes are just as good if not better. Many professionals now do play on rolled tone hole flute, including Galway.

I have thought about getting a flute with a C # trill, but even though I play professionaly I have played with out it for several years. It also adds a bit of weight to it which is uncomfortable for me. But some people swear by them.
I would be really carefull about buying a flute brand that is not heard of. On top of that since it is used, you may end up with even more problems with it in the long run than you have on you current flute. That is the only really scary thing about buying a used flute. I have just gone through this myself and I ended up deciding on getting a new Powell instead of a used one.
I was playing on an inline G for many years and just switched to an offset and I highly recommend it. That is another thing to concider. I can play much more relaxed now.
I also made sure to avoid at all cost the split E mechanism when looking for a new flute. I also repair flutes and I have seen all the problems that come with them.
Instead, I choice to have the high E facilitor. Though on the Powell flute I find the scale to be so perfect that I doubt that it is even needed.
Good luck with your flute search. Like I said I have went through the same thing all last year, so I know how difficult it can be. Just make sure and get all the facts first and then you should be just fine.

yeah, i`m playing an offset right now and i hate it when playing an inline. it might be b/c i`m not used to it...but i like the offsets a lot better. personally i like the c# trill...unless it`s a fast trill (which i just use the first trill key, low c trill), i can`t move my index finger htat fast...and it pops (my finger ).
