why flutes??? what is wrong with flute players? i think it`s a bit random and its a bit sad to have a debate about which is the best instrument.well there thats my opinion

I agree with fran, I personally dont think that any instrument is best, and in my opinion, every instrument is a favorite instrument to somebody, most musicians I`ve met seem to be at war with eachother, lets be frank, nobody is better then anybody else just becase of their instrument, it is the time, effort and practice that defines talent and worth. I intended to start this thread to show that flautists arent all a joke, ad to have a bit of equality, but in all honestly, I regret doing it.

How come weight lifters are the most insecure group? Comeon, you know that weight lifters and.. for example, sax players do about the same amount of drugs, but we are far from insecure! (not that I do it, though I am both a musician and a weightlifter) You know how the gigs go, your playing in a bar, and so many people are smoking that you might as wel start, cause the second hand sh1t will get you anyway!

There are plenty of jokes for every instrument (especially strings), but everyone knows that it`s all in good fun, right? I say this in light of a comment I made in the oboe forum, which was purely a joke. I don`t think oboes sound bad. In fact, when played well, the oboe can be one of the most beautiful-sounding instruments created by humans.

I don`t hate any instruments, and I pity anyone who does. I think the main reason musicians poke fun at other instruments is that they want to think that theirs is superior. I realized in about grade 9 that this was a really lame attitude, and now I just focus on improving my own skills, and not poking fun at the other instruments.

I did play trumpet for half a year in grade 7. I didn`t switch to saxophone because I hated the trumpet, but because it just didn`t suit me.

We, as musicians, are supposed to be sophisticated enough to be above the status quo. Let`s act like we are!

yeah im just messing around, poking fun at all these serious guys here. I mean, yeah, i work out, and yeah, i play reeds, brass, and double reeds, but who cares? It`s my choice to work out, if you want to be fat, suit yourself. I`m not any better because I work out; I work out for ME, not for other people. Thats the same with music, to an extent. Yeah, you compete with others, and play gigs, and it might be your job, but for the most part, your competing against yourself, and thats my favorite competition. Always try to improve yourself, look at yourself, not others. Well, thats my spill, quite a turnaround, eh? enjoy yourself; don`t get to stressed, and keep a carrot around to munch on if you do.

You know, what is the point of all this strif, when stuff like Matts site is posted up?
