What is the best ligature (darkest sound, easy stacatto, able to play all sorts of dynamics, etc.) of the following?
Vandoren-Optimum
Rovner-Eddie Daniels II, Mark III
D. Bonade (inverted/traditional)
BG-Super Revelation, Standard
Luyben plastic
Also, is the J&D Hite model `D` a good choice for a mouthpiece?
Thank you.

Open your throat, make sure your embouchure is correct, lighten up your tonguing, blow a decent airstream, THEN start worrying about your ligature.

^what if she`s already considered those issues and addressed them?
btw, is a leather (fabric, iunno how to describe haha) ligature worth the cost? i might pop by the music store and get one. seems kinda pricey.. or am i just cheap? XD
btw, i don`t see myself going far with the clarinet but i still love playing. it`s my main insturment but i don`t think i`ll be playing in college. i don`t have my own clarinet because err, i don`t want to buy one. i`d by a cheap-o one, but, we all know what those are like. haha. should i just stick with my plastic ligature?

If he or she has already addressed those issues, then it is perfectly reasonable to start looking at ligatures, and maybe mouthpieces. I think that the mouthpiece makes more of a difference.
