what does BB mean anyway? It`s been 15+ years since I played and what is ebonite? some sites say it`s wood other plastic.
And is plastic okay? does anyone know if Sky is a good brand? It`s about all I could ind in a price range I can afford

bb means that a note is double flatted (or two half steps down from the note shown on the page) ebonite is a form of plastic, and sky is an off brand, For intermediate player i would say you should use a buffet b10 or 12

I was under the impression that Ebonite is the form of rubber that forms the hard rubber mouthpieces.
Good clarinet brands include Buffet (as Donatello mentioned), LeBlanc, and Yamaha.

BB is Bb b-flat. To be very blunt, plastic mouthpieces suck and sound very bad, Sky is an offbrand and sucks. A good beginner clarinet would be Buffet, Leblanc, Selmer, Yamaha, or the Forte by the Doctor (www.doctorsprod.com). Ebonite is hard rubber. Good luck!

You can probably find a used plastic clarinet from the brands I mentioned for around $100.
