Hi,
I`m new to this site...
Just bought a clarinet off of ebay and want to learn how to play klezmer and jazz. Is it possible to start on klezmer or will I have to learn classical first?
I do not know how to read music and have no background whatsoever besides playing a little bit of self taught super basic -strumming chords I find on the internet- guitar.
Also, do any of you happen to know any good clarinet teachers in the Austin area?

It really depends on where you want to go with clarinet...
But I would highly recommed you get SOME classical training. I am not as familiar with Klezmer as with jazz, but when it comes to both of them you need to obviously have a good, well-rounded understanding of the instrument if you wish to perform in an exceptional way. A fair analogy I can think of is learning to speak a language without ever learning the grammatical structure. By limiting yourself to just a couple kinds of music, you will probably get extremely frustrated when you can`t make jazz or Klezmer sound the way you would like it to. All in all, the more you play and the more diverse you are in your playing, the better musician you will become.
