Congratulations.
I hope you made more than squeaks - produced a note or two? If you did you are off and running. If you want to persevere with it close the holes of the left hand and try that note.
Then the one higher and then the one lower. The lower one will require the right hand, of course.
If you can get a note anywhere at all stay with it and nurse it... get a feel for it, make it louder and softer and longer... play with it a bit.
But once you start closing holes it only takes one pad that doesn`t fit properly to leak air and make it impossible for you to get a sound. You see how when you close a hole with your finger that makes a key close something else? Yes, well if it doesn`t close properly you`ve got a problem.
Or a clumsy finger that accidently nudges a key so`s it opens a pad a tad. that will have the same effect.
Why bother telling you all this if you are going to change the machine? Because all the same things apply with any clarinet.
Should you get another machine? If you like, certainly. I have three and have every intention of getting many more.
