P r i v a t e L e s s o n s . Private lessons are definitely the way to go to get an awesome start. =) They don`t have to be a professional, but definitely a better choice.

There are so many things that you need to practice on to improve on the clarinet. A private lessons teacher will help you out from the very beginning.

Method books are always a good start. Try doing long tones chromatically. Always practice your scales.

In you`re practice set goals for yourself, and don`t try and achieve them all at the same time (one at a time). Make sure you are using a decent clarinet (plastic I would assume). When I started out I had an "unknown" name brand plastic clarinet and it was terrible. The rod on one of the long keys disattached so it would wobble back and forth.

Use ricos for now then once you`re embouchure settles you might want to step up to maybe vandoren reeds (or another brand well-known brand). I would start out with a rico 2.5 or below. Use the same mouthpiece;it`s fine, but perhaps in couple of months you might need to change.

Well I hope I helped. Bye!
