I have a friend whose Clarinet I use when I don`t have mine with me, but I don`t like the sound as much. Is that because of the Clarinet or the fact that I`ve been playing on a wooden Clarinet since I started playing almost five years ago? I also find it easier to blow through the plastic Clarinet, is that also becasue I`ve been playing a wooden one? Thanks.

Well... I would say that it`s because the plastic one sure is worse than your own. When you blow through a plastic clarinet there aren`t as much resistance as in a wooden one. Don`t ask me why `cause then I might have to tell you in Danish

well i`m no expert but woods are way more money and do produce a better sound so it probably like reeds the harder to blow through the better the sound so you might find it easier to blow through. personally i think it`s pretty good you can switch between them because I have even just switched reeds and when i try to go back to rico it`s easier to blow on but it hurts and sounds horrible. keep playing on the wood(wish i had one)!

I have a plastic clarinet dubbed "The Plastic Bundy". As soon as I saved enough money to buy a good woodden clarinet I immediately went for a Buffet Crampon. The difference between a wood and plastic clarinet could havbe never been more clear. lol. The wood has more resistance when blowing into it and developes a deeper, rounder sound (with a good reed of course). A plastic may be easier to play for you, but the sound and the feel of the clarinet are so different to me I just stick with my Buffet (recently named Jack). There`s just one thing I need to say before I leave. NEVER play outside with a wood clarinet or leave in a car for extended periods of time. 5 minutes, okay. An hour... NO! lol. keep at a decent temperature if you can or close to it at all times.
