Personally, I prefer the Buffet R13 because of it's wonderful tone quality, but I've also heard that the Buffet R13 Greenline plays very well too. I'm not too fond of Selmers, but I think it's all about your style of playing and which clarinet fits you best.

The regular R-13! there's nothing out there that matches it. plus every professor i've talked to has recomended it as well. Dont take a second thought about it

If you are looking for a pro clarinet then don't take the R13. The Buffet RC-series (RC, RC prestige etc.) are the professional clarinets from Buffet. Or the Tosca (but that's just way too expensive!)

Hi. What a question? It depends on so many things, and trying to get advice over the internet is a start but will only help you so far. I play on the buffet RC but most other clarinettists use the R13. When I tried them, I preferred the sound, and the slight difference in the key layout suited me better. Alos it worked with my mouthpiece really well.

Your best bet is to go an try them out. Most music shops have facilities for you to do this, and big dealers will have a room for you to play in for a few hours or so. Take along some music you are working on and see which you prefer. At the end of the day it is personal preference.
